An eighteen wheeler truck is driving down a highway at sunset May 25, 2020 - BY EagleLogistics LLC

If you’re looking for a trucking career, then consider Eagle Logistics! Located in Purdy, MO, we have over 37 years of experience with transportation. While we may be small compared to other big name trucking companies, there are plenty of great benefits of working for a small trucking company like Eagle Logistics.

Reasons Why You Should Work for a Small Trucking Company

We understand that working for a larger trucking company sounds attractive, but hear us out. Working for a small trucking company has many desirable benefits. When you decide to work for a small company like Eagle Logistics, you’ll experience benefits like:

  • Feel Recognized: At Eagle Logistics, we believe in the phrase “you have a name, not a number.” We know that feeling recognized as an important person at your job is crucial for morale and work ethic. At larger companies, you may be referred to as just your employee number, but not here - at Eagle Logistics, we’re on a first name basis and will even ask about your family and pets, too!
  •
  • The Truth About Miles: When you apply to work at a larger trucking company, you’ll more than likely be offered a rate per mile that you’ll be paid. More often than not, this rate will be higher at a larger company than at a smaller company. But don’t let that fool you — just because the rate is higher doesn’t mean that you’ll be driving as many miles per week as you expect. This often leads to a smaller paycheck than what you desire. With smaller trucking companies like Eagle Logistics, we don’t have the ability to short miles. With fewer trucks, smaller companies have to do their absolute best to maximize the miles a truck can legally cover every week.  Most drivers end up discovering that the smaller company provides them with a better take home at the end of the week than the larger company does.
  •
  • An Open Door Policy: As we mentioned in our first point, when you work for a larger company, you’re often known as just a number. That means that you most likely won’t ever speak to upper management or the owner. Because of this, there are often issues and problems that get lost in the chain of command. At a small trucking company like Eagle Logistics, the chain of command is much shorter and many times you’ll be interacting with the general manager or the owner, which gives drivers a much safer feeling with their job.
  •
  • Less Down Time: Those who work for a large trucking company may experience lots of down time when there are repairs, recalls, and damage that needs to be taken care of. This is because these large companies usually have a backlog of things that need to be done in the ship. Since Eagle Logistics is a small trucking company, we have less of a backlog and prioritize issues with trucks so that you can get back on the road as soon as possible.

So, what do you think? Doesn’t working for a smaller company sound more appealing after reading this post? If you’re interested in a career with us, be sure to apply on our career page.
